I refuse to complete every ‘activity’ this month. I firmly believe that what you focus on expands – and I choose not to focus on the grief. I choose to focus on the here and now, the things I can control, the gifts I’ve been given. HOWEVER, Madelyn Elizabeth is such a HUGE part of my life and the driving force behind Sharing Solace that it would be an injustice to not share her story.
Madelyn was born May 19, 2010 a fighter, just like her mama. She ‘shouldn’t’ have been born alive, she ‘shouldn’t’ have made it past the first trimester – yet she did, she fought with everything she had. Our first and only child. She loved macaroni and cheese and salsa {sometimes together} and Dr. Seuss books. She brought love and light to a time my family needed it most. Her short time on earth touched more people than I could ever imagine – Sharing Solace hopes to hep even half as many people.
Maddie is the girl that gets me out of bed every morning – I am a better, happier person because of her. She taught me what is truly important and helped me to reevaluate my priorities. She’s shown my life is not always ‘fair’ and I am stronger than I ever thought possible. I owe her a debt that I will never be able to repay and will try every day to do so.
