Sharing Solace Events

Ava Faith Vogel was born still on October 21, 2009 at 22 weeks gestation. Our baby girl was gone before she had even arrived. After Ava’s birth, it was determined her death had been caused by the umbilical cord, something that is generalized under the term “cord accident.”

According to research from the Stillbirth Collaborative Research Network, umbilical cord accidents account for around 10 percent of stillbirths. There is no warning or preventative measures for this, it is tragically something that can “just happen.”

With the upcoming 10th birthday of our first daughter, we want to honor her short life, and the lives of other babies gone too soon, by lighting sponsored candles in their memory on her 10th heavenly birthday, and donating all proceeds to Birthwaves, a non-profit organization that provides doula services to families who experience pregnancy and infant losses.

We welcome all loss families to come and light a candle for their babies and share in their memories together. This ceremony will be held in the Ali Kemp Memorial at Tomahawk Park in Leawood, KS.
