THAT got your attention didn’t it?!? The phrase “Go Duck Yourself” is a nerdy little nod to a story from The Pragmatic Programmer – and I loved it so much I stole the spirit of it, ‘Crystal-zed it’, and applied it to grief.
In The Pragmatic Programmer, there’s a famous idea sometimes called rubber duck debugging:
When you’re stuck, you explain your problem out loud – step by step – to a rubber duck (or any nonjudgmental, preferably inanimate, listener).
And weirdly? By the time you finish explaining it, your brain often finds the answer.
Because sometimes what you need isn’t advice. Just the space to say the thing.

Grief has a way of turning your thoughts into a tangled drawer of cords. You’re not “crazy.” You’re not “doing it wrong.” You’re just carrying something very heavy.
